Powerline (HomePlug Green PHY) is the default transport for rock-solid local communications. Most smart breakers rely on the cloud. If the internet goes down, they become dumb. The WestNet THQP-S contains a Dual-Core 32-bit MCU on every single pole.
Trip decisions are made on-device in microseconds. Thermal analysis happens locally.

Founder & CEO, WestNet Wireless
Abdou Traya founded WestNet in Calgary in 2001 at age 19, building the city's first community Wi-Fi network — years before municipal wireless was a concept anywhere in Canada. By 2006, WestNet launched Calgary's first city-wide commercial Wi-Fi network in partnership with WiLAN — founded by Dr. Hatim Zaghloul, a friend of Abdou's and the inventor of W-OFDM, who holds numerous foundational patents at the core of Wi-Fi, modems, and cellular technology. Together they covered 20 km² of Calgary.
The THQP-S 1515 smart breaker was inspired by a neighbour — a Master Electrician, the highest-qualified class of electrician authorized to hold permits and oversee complex electrical projects. His real-world insight into panel-level problems sparked the idea that became the 1515.
Operating under WestNet N.A., Abdou leads WestNet Wireless — a vertically integrated operation spanning wireless ISP infrastructure, RF engineering, embedded hardware development, and telecommunications. From designing proprietary antenna systems and building tower sites to developing the THQP-S smart breaker, his work bridges the gap between telecom-grade connectivity and electrical distribution.
